Are you accreditated?

Cathedral of St. Joseph School is fully accredited by the North Central/AdvancEd Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement and the Missouri Chapter of the National Federation of State Non-Public School Accrediting Association.

 

What is your admission policy?

Kindergarten students must be five (5) years of age by August 1. First-grade students must be six (6) years of age by August 1. Certificates of birth and baptism and health records are requested at the time of registration. Missouri law requires up-to-date immunizations prior to entry into school.

We welcome students who are non-Catholic. There will be no distinction made because of religion. However, any non-Catholic enrolling as a student will take part in all phases of the school program including prayer, Mass, and Religion classes. This does not include participation in the reception of the sacraments.

Transfer students entering Grades 1-6 must have an interview with the principal, submit the last report card issued and a transfer or withdrawal card from their former school. In addition, students in Grades 7 and 8 must have a letter of recommendation from a former teacher/principal.

All students attending Cathedral School must meet the following guidelines: A student meets reasonable academic requirements and is able to function in a regular classroom. A student is willing and able to abide by school regulations and to obey school officials.

All families with students in Cathedral School must meet the following guidelines: Each family agrees to abide by school regulations and to support school officials. Each family agrees to keep current with financial obligations.

Nondiscrimination: Cathedral Staff and students in true ecumenical spirit welcome all students into the Christian educational community of Cathedral School. We admit students of any sex, race, color, national and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to the students at Cathedral School.

 

How many school days do you have?

There are [174] required days of attendance in the school year. The daily schedule provides for six hours of instruction in addition to time for lunch and recess.

 

What are the school hours?

School doors open at 7:30 A.M. Students are supervised from 7:30 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. The school day begins at 7:55 A.M. with homeroom. The school day ends at 3:00 P.M.

Preschool Hours: 4-5 Year Olds – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

3-4 Year Olds – Tuesday and Thursday

Morning Sessions – 8:00-11:00 A.M.

PreKindergarten Hours: 4-5 Year Olds-Mondays through Fridays

Afternoon Sessions – 12:00-3:00 P.M.

Cathedral Early

Childhood Center Hours: Mondays through Fridays 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM all year round, except for major holidays

 

What time is arrival and dismissal?

Arrival Times: School Safety Patrols are at their posts at 7:30 A.M. Teachers are on duty in school at 7:30 A.M. Supervision is not provided before this time. In case of inclement weather, the ramp is open for those who must arrive early. The Cathedral Early Childhood Center provides before-school care beginning at 6:00 A.M.

Wellness Walk: Students begin each school day with a wellness walk on the school grounds from 7:35-7:45 AM.

Dismissal Times: School is dismissed at 3:00 P.M. Those students not picked up immediately after school will wait on the school ramp until 3:30 P.M. Extended care students will be escorted to the Cathedral Early Childhood Center by members of the Safety Patrol.
